So I had a conversation with one of my former Master’s Degree Professors and this is word for word how it went:
Professor: How’s the career going?
P.S.S.: Career is, I don’t know…moving along is what I want to say but I don’t see consistency and album sales don’t say much. I am in the planning stage of doing two big concert type shows here and then I want out of Tallahassee….
Professor: Will be sorry to lose u. Where will u be headed?
P.S.S.: My wish is either Los Angeles, California or back home to Miami. Miami is only a choice depending if I get accepted to UM for PhD. I am preparing to submit there. If not, then my number one choice is California and if not there then anywhere big city type. I wouldn’t even mind leaving USA for a while.
Professor: That sounds like a lethal combination…music & PhD at the same time!
LETHAL COMBINATION: MUSIC & PhD!!!! – Makes me think what did my professor mean? Did my professor mean that it’s hard/lethal to be working on my PhD while being an indpendent performing music artists or did my professor mean that it is lethal to actually have my PhD and also be an independent performing music artist at the same damn time. Either way, this is my goal! Call me Dr. Phil; the real Dr. Phil!……One day soon!
See you at our (PALACE BAND) show (Royal Cruise Thursday’s) 8:30pm tomorrow at HiFi Jazz Cafe! Peace……
"Lethal combination"…either perspective is lethal. Work and time has to be invested for both. But it’s double the time and work being invested. You can do it. Do what you do best and plan it out. Then Pray on it and let God Guide you. Either way, you will achieve both. It will be Dr Phil, the independent music artist/saxophonist.
Thank you miss Johaiza! Well said and very supporting…. You have further inspired me…. One thing we must always remember is to also inspire ourselves, so make sure you are applying this to your life as well (my post and definitely your reply)! Peace
lol yes, I am applying it. It is sometimes hard to see it myself but loving and caring people always remind me. You’re Welcome, for everyone now and then need some boost at times 🙂
