Journey to meet family – Jamaica Day 1!!!!

As we wait for our shuttle van to take us to our hotel, a friendly vendor man tells my brother, “you Jamaican man but you gwan a foreign and turn foreign.” Then he looks at me and said something similar bout me being Jamaican. I replied, my family is Jamaican and he said so you Jamaican den. Talk it to me. So we talk a bit and his excitement for the yard in me got me hype for the day as the Montego Bay airport vendors had Bennie Man music jammin outside! It’s good to be home! The last time I was home was in 2009 to bury and celebrate the life of my Grandma and before that was when I lived here during my youth days. So again I say, it’s good to be home!!!!
So, this is the first time that I’ve stayed in a Jamaican hotel as it is my first real vacation to the island I call home. Shortly after checking in the hotel, we went beachside and I ate some jerk chicken (yes I went back to eating meat after 8 months; my iron levels were dropping and the doctor mentioned anemic on June 3rd….I ate chicken and steak the same day and never stopping again). At the hotel stage there was a violin player jammin to all the world popular songs. He was good and sounded good! I brought my saxophones on this trip so I was excited to hear this Cuban violin player jammin so I asked him bout me playing and he said yes. I ran to my room to get my saxes and I played about six songs with him that included, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, and some other popular artists songs like “Endless Love” (will post this video on my www.YouTube.com/PSSKINGP page. Day one started off just right being able to play my sax and perform for vacationers.
Now,  although my journey to meet my family started years ago (you’ll get that story in a later blog), on this trip my brother and I finally get to physically meet our father’s side of Kingston Jamaica! The big day is Sunday, so I’m excited yet kinda bothered that we gotta wait that long. However, other than vacationing, we also have my moms side of family to visit as well which is in Lime Hall of Saint Ann Jamaica. I am extra excited to reconnect with them as well!
I will keep you posted and let you know how it goes on my journey to meet my family. Lickle more, zeen!!!!
