21 questions…

Rather than make a series of comments, about the events in Parkland, Florida on February 14, 2018, that would be in conflict with anyone’s beliefs, feelings, political agenda or constitutional rights, here are questions to ponder and even discuss, if you would like.

  1. When something in a society is being overwhelmingly misused, who is responsible for correcting its misuse?
  2. How do you correct the misuse, when some within the society don’t see it as such?
  3. Adults have been lashing out in the work place (going postal), on the roadways (road rage) and, on social platforms (comment sections) for almost two decades now, in response to things that they do not like. How can we go back to work the next day or drive down that same road without a 2nd thought and when a teenager lashes out in a similar manner, act surprised?
  4. Aren’t children/teenagers just mimicking the behavior they have seen or have learned?
  5. How early do you begin to speak to children about heartache and healing?
  6. If children see adults run each off of the road or fire shots into a vehicle because of a driving
  7. Who do parents/guardians ask for help when their children are in a downward spiral?
  8. Could your neighbor come to you and express  concerns about a family member’s behavior or well being? Why or why not? Should anyone be able too?
  9. Why do so many people believe schools should be a safe place in this country, when everything outside of the school is not safe?
  10. How would you define “false sense of security”?
  11. Are most Americans living in some form of a “false sense of security”?
  12. Who is responsible for a mentally ill individual who is 18 or older?
  13. Has anyone noticed how the students from the school sound more mature and wise than some of the adults who have platforms because of their title?
  14. If N. Cruz didn’t live in a community with the median home price of $600,000 or was of a different ethnicity would he have been arrested based off of tips provided to law enforcement before February 14, 2018.
  15. What more could we ask educators to do, when they are already paid so little?
  16. Does anyone still question why there is a teacher shortage?
  17. What is at the root of the mass/school shooting epidemic we are facing in America?
  18. How do we as a society begin to address the needs of  those traumatized by gun violence?
  19. Who should pay the bill for that treatment, when we all can suffer the effects of non-treatment?
  20. What impact, if any, would prayer in schools and the mention of “God” outside of the Pledge of Allegiance have on school shootings?
  21. Can we as a society put aside our differences to address mass shootings across our country….where do we begin?
